Today , with the current high resolution scanners and image processing techniques, it is very much possible to identify a human being uniquely even against a database of 6 billion biometric records. Face has aging issue. ( the template changes ) Retina biometric has diabetic retinopathy issue. Iris biometric is the best. But finger print biometric is cost effective ( and equally good) Biometric technology is used to identify a human uniquely for immigration verification /Visa processing in many countries now and is a part of Unique ID card project and Rural employment guarantee programs in India. Can elaborated the technological possibilities and uses off-list if anyone is interested (We make many biometric scanners and image processing application and implemented it in many banks and e-gov projects throughout India.) _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, email ilugc-requ...@ae.iitm.ac.in with "unsubscribe <password> <address>" in the subject or body of the message. http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
