[Ilugc] running scilab 5.1.1 on linux

hi,
has anyone succeeded in running scilab 5.1.1 in gui mode in linux? I get a 
seqfault in FC11 and a google search shows a lot of similar complaints but 
does not seem to offer a solution. I am using the precompiled 32 bit binary. 
The -nogui option works.
