Since the attitude (especially in the current thread) seems to be "We the LUG againt You the NRCFOSS", I don't think it make sense for me to open discussion in my NRCFOSS capacity. The thread could well be named *nrcfoss - negative side* instead of* **fossconf-09-negative side*. I don't think the vociferous members have understood the feelings of Prakash and others who happen to be working at NRCFOSS. If they come out of NRCFOSS, will they become "purified"? I disagree with Raman : simply being a volunteer doesn't absolve one from the responsibilities nor does working for an organization "funded by tax payers" (sic) thrusts a load of absolute responsibilities on the individual. In reality, it depends on the individual, his/her status / involvement in the organisation and other related factors. A faux pas by Raman or Thiagarajan will have more adverse impact on the perception about Chennai LUG than an ordinary LUG member -- though all of them are only volunteers. Some (of I hope not many) will also be looking askance at me -- not only I am from NRCFOSS, I am now going off from AU-KBC to join C-DAC Chennai. Does it going to change my attitude towards FOSS? It might, of course, have an impact on the type of FOSS activities I undertake. However, by the tone of the exchanges in this group, I shouldn't be surprised if I become an outcast in the eyes of some of you -- not that the number was non-zero. (do we remember Prashant Mohan, GoSc ?). Not that I claim to be in their league, but we have many active members contributing to FOSS who have jobs at proprietary companies. ARUN , myself and many others here are seeking an answer, for our knowledge > sake , please dont throw this mail because of the anonimity of the author > credentials... > In response to the blog, Kenneth had given a msg on behalf of Prof CNK -- which you guys don't seem to care much about. Some of the points -- I had raised before joining NRCFOSS (when I knew pretty litle about FOSS). But you seem to think that NRCFOSS is a wizard who could change things by a wave of wand. I do have some comments and suggestions, and even queries -- will put them out in a day or two (before I take up my new posting!!!). with best wishes, Srinivasan, NRCFOSS _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, email ilugc-requ...@ae.iitm.ac.in with "unsubscribe <password> <address>" in the subject or body of the message. http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
