any user spamming the list with invites from yaari / hi-5 whatever shall be immediately unsubscribed and also banned from subscribing in future - yes / no
Well, as a list admin of a few lists myself I have thought about this and my stance is [1] Either moderate them or ban them, this makes sure that they learn their lessons and are careful in future [2] Moderation or banning actually doesn't stop new people from doing the same mistake. It is usually a new comer to the list (who is also a new comer to the culture of mailing list and etiquettes) who does such mistakes and hence it will keep happening once in a while, as new people keep joining and making mistakes. May be moderating a new member until he has made N number of posts or for N weeks makes some sense, but takes a huge overhead on the list admins as they have to keep constantly checking and marking on/off people. [3] the seasoned members also need to have some amount of tolerance. We all know why it is happening and who's making it. We also know we can't stop it, especially in a active list such as ours. Under such circumstance, I feel "Delete" key is an easier and quicker solution than making an huge thread out of every such mail. We all know the admins/mods are watching such mails as well, and action will be taken without much noise.
My 2 paisas.
