Agreed. Security through obscurity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Security_through_obscurity) has been proven wrong in multiple instances. Security by design is what is going to survive. More people looking into the design and implementation could only be beneficial. Any security flaw or bug could be identified in time and fixed. Systems relying on hiding the design or implementation for security are bound to fail, may not be right away though. This whole argument of freedom "or" security is uncalled for.
