Malaysia Airlines - What happened????
I am an American. My wife is Malaysian and several times people have tried
to treat me "better" but i insisted on waiting in my line and etc...Get to
a point where I embarrassed to a foreigner. You know, I have always been
very proud of MAS. But this recent flight back to the US was beyond my
disappointment with this airline. I don't even know where to begin to list
the problem(s):
1) Service -- HORRIBLE. There were periods of 30 minutes when no
steward/ess would be in sight! When we rang the bell for service (wife
wasn't feeling well) we were left waiting and waiting (while wife was
shaking) until I had to get up and go ask for a cup of water.
2) Stewardess attitude -- Forget the smile! If you can't make up your mind
as to what you want to eat or if you so much as not look in the menu
before they come to you before your meal, you can count on being snapped
at. Get this, ONLY Malaysian travellers got treated like this, not the
foreigners.
3) Batu Ferringi sales -- There was this stewardess and she was doing this
duty free round and it sounded like one of those vendors at Batu Ferringi.
I was horrified to hear it.. she would say to a Swedish tourist "very
cheap one, no need to think! This is girl's best friend, it's duty free...
I don't make money one.. want or not? Last one already?" I mean --- WHERE
IS THE CLASS?????
4) Stroller - this makes my blood boil. When we flew MAS in 2002, they
broke our baby's stroller axle. so we had to trash it and buy a new one in
malaysia. Of course, MAS won't accept responsibility, blaming Newark. THIS
TIME, THEY LOST THE ENTIRE STROLLER!! How, I don't know. Then, someone
called the house and left a message supposedly in English but neither my
wife nor myself and can make out what he is saying!!!
My wife and I are so... mad and disappointed with this airline at this
point that we vow to fly SIA or Cathay from now onwards. SIA is my wife's
favourite airline and I can see why. So seriously, what happened ?????
I'd rather pay a little bit more so I can enjoy SIA. There was NOTHING for
our 3-yr old son.. NOTHING. All the entertainment had to come from my
wife! Not even a children's show that he can watch. Get this, they even
FORGOT his child's meal at one point. URGH! And yes, food is horrible and
tasteless. YUCK!
What Malaysian service industry have to realize is that many of us
"foreign darlings" have got Malaysian spouses so, treating us with double
standards is quite an insult.
