Acer, while still developing Windows Mobile-based smartphones, has
shifted its development policy to focus more on the Android platform,
with at least half of new models launched in 2010 to be Android-based,
according to industry sources.

Acer will also continue to cooperate with its current production
partners in 2010, outsourcing Windows Mobile- and Android-based
smartphones to Compal Communications, while contracting Windows Mobile
handsets to Inventec Appliances, indicated the sources.

Acer's first Android-powered smartphone, the A1, will be available in
November 2009, while the company also plans to roll out three Windows
Mobile models, the F1, L1 and C1/E1, in the fourth quarter, said the
sources.
