An alternate approach, if the data are that important that they need
to be brought out into a highly-visible place, would be to craft a check
that looks *only* at the datum you'd be searching for and present that
to the system as a separate service. That way, the object would be able
to alert independently of other things and would be independently
visible/searchable by the user interfaces.
Just an idea.
