You call SDSF from REXX in a special environment that allows returning REXX variables. There is no equivalent in any other supported language. I don't know what IBM did for Java.

I've long believed that if Wilbur and Orville Wright only had that technique they could have become the world's leading franchiser of bicycle repair shops. IBM owns the interface spec for SDSF and HLASM CALL. There are independent standards for Rexx and COBOL, but IBM carries much weight. Isn't COBOL compatible with HLASM CALL? and Rexx provides compatibility with ADDRESS LINKMVS. SDSF didn't need to go its own way. Java, not so much, but perhaps with JNI? >________________________________________ >From: Paul Gilmartin >Sent: Saturday, May 25, 2019 8:44 PM >> >Conway's law, again, right? > Almost synonymous with "internal politics". -- gil ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
