Here is my dumb Friday question guys and gals. It is still true you can do I/O , disk I/O in particular from say a RACF exit, in particular IRREVX01 ? Or am i mistaken..I was thinking about somehow talking to LOGGER ...
We handle such requirements by having a server address space that implements PC-ss routines that can be invoked by our code running in the exit. Those PC-ss routines can POST a running TCB in the server address to do I/O and similar functions we wouldn't necessarily want to perform directly in the exit's address space -- either for environmental or performance reasons.
When the operation is complete (or in many cases simply queued for a "lazy write" completion), the PC routine returns back to the exit via PR instruction and everything continues like normal.
