The system default for DFDSS dump is set at 256K. Isn't that fantastic? Now
there is no way we can ever copy a tape to dasd because the lasrgest blksize
supported for a DASD dataset is 32760 bytes. IBM increased the blksize for

The issue is known much longer than LBI and BLKSIZE=256K. Long before
that it was possible to use blocksize 64k (on 3490E drive) which was
unsupported by the OS/390 (then), but acceptable by DSS.
Another issue is dss dumps cannot be reblocked - this is the problem!
Regarding your previous mail and (I think) your goal - yes, you CAN
restore datasets in another SMS environment, look for IMPORT keyword,
maybe also NMC, NSC (Null Mgmt Class, Null Storage Class).
And - for future dumps - you can enforce smaller blocksize.
