The Intel 4004 processor started shipping in 1971. One could also argue the
Intel 8086 (1978) is the evolutionary starting point.

If the comment attached to that article is correct it appears that the
systems in question are Unisys MCP-based with DMS II. MCP runs on...Intel
X86-based servers.
