I'm here!  Yes, Vista can handle code page 1047 and in fact that's been
the default for many years (ever since I started coding C on the
mainframe).  SPUFI complains (at least by default) if you're using
anything but code page 37, so be aware of that.  And from what I
remember Bookmanager likes code page 37 too.

With Vista you can change the code page on the "Misc" options window and
it goes into effect immediately, without having to reconnect or
close/reopen the window.  But... you have to get VTAM (or whatever) to
resend the last screen since the translation is only done when the bytes
are received from the host.  That might mean exiting and re-entering an
application, or a PA1 in ISPF.

Oh, and SPUFI gets the code page information from ISPF, so for that
change you need to exit and restart ISPF.
