Tony, facing same problem still after updating java . I tried to login with chrome , i can login HMC but when i try to open " hardware message " i'm getting " The task is an applet based task, which does not support bringing to the foreground. Please use the window switching capabilities for local windows to bring the window for this task to the foreground. " instead of pop up window .
