Hi, DFSMShsm invokes DSS DUMP FULL to create dump copies. HSM specifies the TOLERATE(IOERROR) keyword. This varies from the ENQF option. ENQFAILURE is mutually exclusive with FULL. TOL(IOE) indicates that I/O errors on the volume being dumped should not fail the dump (unless there are 100 or more). On restore, the tracks that couldn't be read are cleared. (Refer to the DSS manual for DUMP FULL and TOLERATE(IOERROR)). Full volume dump processes at the Track/Cylinder level, not the data set level. Individual data set enqueues are not obtained. The VTOC is locked to prevent any creates, extends, renames and deletes during the dump. Active data would be a Fuzzy backup if it is not being quiesced during the dump, but it would still be dumped.
What are you seeing when you indicate that no data is backed up? Glenn Wilcock DFSMShsm Architect ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
