1) Are the volumes marked full? NOT FULL volumes will not be selected for
recycles.
2) DFHSM volume chains cannot be recycled if the chain exceeds 40 volumes. You
must "break" the chain at some number less than 40 by deleting one of the
backup datasets that spans volumes.
HSEND LIST TTOC(vol1) and HSEND LIST TTOC(vol2) can be used to determine the
"hsm name" of the datasets. This must then be looked up in the BCDS. I usually
use REVIEW for this, however FILEAID, FILEMANAGER or others can be used, even
IDCAMS repro in a pinch). I usually recall the migrated copy, delete the backup
copy, re-backup the dataset and then re-migrate the dataset.
3) If the above is not the case, try recycling specific volumes (HSEND RECYCLE
EXECUTE VOLUME(xxxxxx))
