It's KSDS datasets. There will be applications running in the zOS (2.1) region that will continue to "maintain" this VSAM data (insert/update/del) thru batch and CICS. Copying and FTPing are somewhat impractical as a result since the java app has to have real time access to it. The java app will be using an Oracle DB.
