I have a quick 64bit storage question, I need to allocate 64bit storage that's
not attached to a TCB, much like sp 231 IS ?

an I do this ? I know dataspaces have to be attached.

My pasting of a dated IARST64 change tag was intended only as a reminder of the
time frame in which the feature was developed. I never intended to imply the
feature was obscure or sparsely documented.

64-bit common is fully documented in every z/OS publication in which you'd
expect to find it. There were SHARE and IBM zExpo presentations (mostly from
Elpida Tzortzatos) that discussed this information as well
- both before and after GA.

I'm not sure how you, Paul Gilmartin, and others missed this important feature,
John. But, it is NOT an obscure one...
