My pasting of a dated IARST64 change tag was intended only as a reminder of the time frame in which the feature was developed. I never intended to imply the feature was obscure or sparsely documented.
64-bit common is fully documented in every z/OS publication in which you'd expect to find it. There were SHARE and IBM zExpo presentations (mostly from Elpida Tzortzatos) that discussed this information as well - both before and after GA.
I'm not sure how you, Paul Gilmartin, and others missed this important feature, John. But, it is NOT an obscure one...
