Allan is correct. z/OS R12 and above R13 (with PTFs), and of course z/OS V2.1, support 1 TB EAVs.

For z/OS V1.12 and V1.13, 1 TB volumes requires:

- IBM System Storage DS8700 or DS8800 with a minimum level of DS8000 licensed machine code
  - (Sorry, but I don't know about other vendors' DASD)
- PTFs for APARs OA28553, OA35138, OA36148, PM08486
- Also of interest:
  - OA29933 (larger RBAs in LISTCAT),
  - OA30632, OA35034, OA36996, OA37221 (Data sets > 4TB)

As others have recommended, using the tracker, applicable PSPs, and FIXCAT HOLD processing are in order to establish information that became available after this (now very old!) list of minimum requirements.
