1) What hardware (IBM, EMC, HDS) will you be using?
2) What research have you done so far? Verified maintenance levels for
z/OS, Verified 3rd party products, Verified Micro code levels, Verified
vendor microcode/firmware levels?
3) What problem are you solving by using this device type
a) Backups and recoveries could be longer due to larger volumes
b) Application response time on large volumes (not sure this is
true, but something to consider)
c) what applications will be using the EAV? Home grown, CICS, DB2,
other?
4) What size are you considering creating? A Mod54 is 54GB of space. How
will an EAV provide a better benefit over several Mod54s? The current
maximum size is 223GB (I Think)
