There is certainly no objection to using L'<whatever> in order to ensure that the length in bytes of <whatever> is declared and must be changed in only one place; but this usage 1) is available only at assembly time and 2) is not a substitute for the explicit specification of this length somewhere.
Moreover, self-defining entities having their array bounds and string lengths materialized within themselves are preferable to those in which these values are implicit in code.
