(E)JES has, since MVS/ESA 4.2, allowed you to make a new copy on JES2/JES3 SPOOL of the "deleted" data with the original job name and jobid so the banner pages (if needed) will print as expected. Presumably other tools have implemented similar capabilities since that time...
