I want our file server to be able to tell the clients when a data set last changed. For non-VSAM it's easy (if a bit vague), there's the last reference date in the F1 DSCB. For VSAM you can see a SYSTEM-TIMESTAMP in the LISTCAT output but how do you get that from a program? We currently use IGGCSI00 for VSAM info but there is no field name for the timestamp. The SHOWCAT macro does not seem to show all that much at all. Any ideas out there? I am hoping I have missed something.
