Jim,

I do not think that allows for multivolume dataset(s) and I think for that you need to copy the entire dataset.

yes, something like this.

And with one COPY command you can move all datasets from a volume.

Typing commands at ISPF screen. There is also the HMIG by volume command
so you don't have to work with the individual datasets.

After the Disable, New, you can also backup, migrate, and recall the
dataset.

You must set the volume DIS,NEW to prevent any new allocations to

Subject: Using DFDSS to move multi volume SMS managed datasets.

I need to free up a volume from a storage group but the volume
contains several multi volume DB2 datasets. I thought I would be
able to remove the volume concerned from the storage group and then
do a dataset copy and delete but DFDSS doesn't like that because
part

of the dataset is now SMS managed and part is not. Fair enough. If

I leave the volume concerned as SMS managed and try to do the
dataset

copy and delete, will DFDSS do the move and move the datasets to the

other volumes in the storage group without trying to move the
datasets to the original volume or will it consider that volume fair

game as it is part of the storage group.

I hope that is clearer than mud.
