What is the cost increase?
Hint: I'm aware it is not simple, but maybe second hand "business class"
machine would be an option?
Such machines, especially older generations can be really cheap. Yes,
older generations don't support current OS versions, however in many
cases it could be acceptable to run downlevel OS.
And the advantage would be I/O - IMHO much better than on emulation.
