Do you have customers asking for STORCLAS instead of VOLUME? Using VOLUME in
your install sets up your customers for the best chance of success. There are
numerous risks in suggesting to customers STORCLAS is acceptable. Here's just a
couple:

1. SMP/e DDDEF's without VOLUME(????) will use the catalog which typically
means live datasets. If SMP/e decided to compress an important dataset, say for
instance, SYS1.LINKLIB, their system could be crippled. If it was a SYSPLEX,
then multiple system would be adversely affected.

2. Installing in a STORCLAS picks from a range of volumes. If your product is
critical for disaster recovery, then that is not the time to find out they made
a mistake (e.g. catalogs, volumes and more) that might not be easy to resolve.

Your install should be designed for your least skilled customer because you
need to avoid catastrophic situations and realize that for a skilled sysprog,
changing VOLUME to STORCLAS is a minor inconvenience. Remember that the
solution to the problem changes the problem.
