NFS with a Solaris (ASCII) server and MVS (EBCDIC)
client.  Software performs the 819<->1047 translation
for both directories and member data.

Cygwin?  WINE?  Bash?

If your motivation is EBCDIC advocacy, you're moving
against the current.
