SMF 79 records are handed back to a ERBSMFI caller-supplied buffer in contrast
to the traditional “push” of SMFWTM/SMFEWTM, so you will not find them in the
normal SMF record MANx or offload datasets.

If you are using RMF, then 79-1 records will be returned even if RMF is not
active (other subtypes require RMF STC and various ERBRMFxx keywords in PARMLIB)

Without calling ERBSMFI, you might get some value from looking at the OUCBTMO
field for the ASID in question.

If you are running z/OS 2.5, you can use the SDSF “AD” panel and then
point-and-shoot on the “OUCB” column for an address space to be taken into a
memory browse session.
If you then type “M” against the first row on the MEM panel, SDSF will map the
memory contents against the OUCB DSECT.

Thanks, Rob - it all makes sense now.
I tried to have a look at my type-79 data, only to find there isn't any
being collected. It seems I have to set up RMF monitor II to collect that.
Maybe I'll think about that later.
Migration to z/OS 2.5 is something planned for later this year.

Regards
Sean
