Most of the “downtime” for IBMLINK I’ve seen discussed here has been people using the wrong link or some other user error. Maybe someone from IBM with the facts can shed some light on the ACTUAL downtime? In my entire career of 40 years, I don’t recall it ever being unavailable when I’ve needed it.

Working for an outsourcer years ago we had clients that hand NO downtime using the sysplex as it was designed. that's what IBM sold them/us for 100% up time, just sayin :) workloads moved around the plex as maint was applied, lpars were moved to new hardware with no outage to the plex....
