Except that he is 100% incorrect. One of my client sites is currently running z/OS 1.8 (which is certainly older than 1.10) on a bc12 (2828-H13). It (z/OS 1.8) has the toleration package so that we could run it on the z/114 that they purchased back in 2012, which was since upgraded to a bc12 2 years ago with no changes to the 1.8 LPAR. The client wanted to still run the old z/OS 1.8 in one of the LPARs due to some software requirements even though the other LPARs are now all z/OS 2.2 and higher.
CPC Node 002828.H13.IBM CPU Model 2828 Physical CPUs 4 Total MIPS 1563.49 MIPS/CPU 390.87 MSU 273 There is only one feature which doesn't work, and that is that the 1.8 system cannot update the IODF via HCD, but it's updated from the up to date LPAR and then used by the 1.8 system. That's a very slight issue, and certainly not a show stopper for anyone. If there were a DAT problem I am pretty sure we would know it by now. :) Brian On Sat, 1 Aug 2020 07:40:51 -0500, Joe Monk <joemon...@gmail.com> wrote: >Brian, > >You said: > >"> I don't know about z/VM 5.3, but running z/OS 1.10 under z/VM on a >> z13 and z14 works (and probably also on a z15), so it's likely that >> it will work on a z12." > >Jim said: > >"Prior to z/OS 1.12, z/OS IPL uses Dynamic Address Translation while >still in ESA/390 mode. z14 and later machines do not do ESA/390 DAT.
