Thank you for your answers, Please focus on how to automate the utility that identify the PDS used space threshold (like LISTDSI suggested by Elardus) and not the compression utility (like IEBCOPY). Is there any other way instead of a daily scheduled JCL job that execute a LISTDSI against the PDS?

Thanks for reminding LISTDSI. I forgot to mention it in my "1." :-) BTW: there is another quick&dirty method for dir block reclamation, of course except deleting some members. If the members have ISPF stats, then you can reset those stats for some members and it will save you some blocks. It is good when you cannot reallocate the PDS.
