Thanks for taking a shot to this one. While I gave a reply on HOW to
get info, I did not think about IEBCOPY.
You are 100% correct that compress is NOT for dir blocks.
In such a case where directory blocks are nearly exhausted, I would
just create a new PDS / PDSE with a larger dir blocks size and do a
member copy job.
Thanks for reminding LISTDSI. I forgot to mention it in my "1." :-)
BTW: there is another quick&dirty method for dir block reclamation, of
course except deleting some members. If the members have ISPF stats,
then you can reset those stats for some members and it will save you
some blocks. It is good when you cannot reallocate the PDS.
