I have a PC rtn for which I reserve a system entry
LXRES ELXLIST=EX_LIST,
SYSTEM=YES,
REUSABLE=YES,
MF=(E,LXRES_DSECT)
Later when I clean things up
LXFRE ELXLIST=EX_LIST,FORCE=YES,MF=(E,LXFRE_DSECT)
I free the linkage entry and get a zero in R15
However I still get
IEF352I ADDRESS SPACE UNAVAILABLE
