Do you have tape management software? If so, which one? CA-1 implements the 
ICETPEX exit and accurately reflects estimated record counts to DFSORT. We have 
used this for __years__ with no problems. If you have some other tape 
management software, ask the vendor.

If you don't have any tape management software at all, you'll need to "fake up" 
your own ICETPEX exit code and somehow give a fairly accurate record count to 
DFSORT.

If this is not possible, then __somebody__ need to be responsible to estimate 
the correct number and size of the SORTWKnn DD statements. There is no magic. 
Just hard work.
