If IBM made such a change, they would have to give a lot of advance warning to
start with and probably reach out and touch their customers as well (I know
my shop and other larger shops get emails from SEs, account reps, or whatever).

I've never bothered with it and I don't personally know of any shop that has.  
That
doesn't mean some don't change it, but I've worked in over 30 shops that
have not.
