There are way too many new users addicted to the internet, who are used to asking a question and getting an answer, without having to think or do any work.

The point is that, in the long run, it creates good habits. If the OP states that he looked at manual xyz, page nn, and didn't understand it or it doesn't seem to work, then the answer will be a lot more useful, and the number of posts both ways will decline.
