Avoid editing data files.
Both numbers and packed format comes from ISPF editor which likely means
human intervention, which likely means mistakes, typos, etc. Even
embezzlement.
Business data should be prepared by application. Assuming the
application does not invoke ISPF serivces or at least does not use
accidental ISPF profile the above simply CANNOT HAPPEN.
Of course besides application data there is a need to transmit source
code - JCL, COBOL, whatever. Such code is syntactically correct when
having seq. numbers, so in this case ...there is no real need to remove it.
Do we have a global setting that we might invoke?
