Of course I would. Its the operator commands that are entered through the jobstream is what I do not allow. Although I did find abuse of that at one place. The operators would issue start commands that would execute other commands (don't ask I think they were lazy). I stopped that immediately. The company was to cheap to buy an automation program although the scheduling go so complicated (it was really bad) they were sold on a job scheduling package. I disliked it but it more or less worked for them I shut up and let them fall into the trap that I saw coming. Needless to say the next upgrade didn't work as the package was OS release dependent. I spoke up and said "I told you so". The person in our group that supported the package got his wings clipped because he didn't call the vendor and ask (it was his responsibility).

You wouldn't allow operators or other authorized people to issue commands via SDSF or some other means? -- Mark Zelden - Zelden Consulting Services - z/OS, OS/390 and MVS mailto:[email protected] Mark's MVS Utilities: http://www.mzelden.com/mvsutil.html Systems Programming expert at http://expertanswercenter.techtarget.com/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
