Subject: Re: Removing BINS from RMM

Thanks for the response and the suggestion. Yes, RMM knows of the changes. Are there any other ideas out there? This really must be a pretty common exercise. I can't imagine no one else has done this.

Is there something more I need to change in RMM so I can remove the bins?

David,

You should open a Q&A with RMM support if you have Q&A support. From reading the manuals, it looks like the bins have to be empty before you delete them. So I would create a temporary location with NOBINS, manually move all my tapes to that location, delete all the BINS in the old location, and then manually move the tapes back to the old location. Delete the temp location, then issue a CV AUTOMOVE for all the volumes you moved.

I have not done this, but from reading the books, this process should work. There could be easier ways to accomplish it, so I would contact RMM support.
