Have you ever tried to get a manager like that to agree to actually try something? "Real World be damned, we're talking philosophy here!" seems to be their cry. It's like discussing religion. So long as all agree, there is peace and light. But have a difference of opinion, and it __can__ devolve into "the night of knives". At our shop, Windows is the religion to many. We have rejected products with the notation: "Not a Microsoft product." and nothing else.
