Just out of curiousity, I browsed SYS1.LINKLIB(IEFBR14).  It looks the same as 
it did probably about 25 years ago when I last looked at it.  The code is 
basically 8 bytes:

1BFF 07FE 0000 0000

1B is Subtract register - FF is subtracting R15 from itself, giving 0 - the 
return code.  07 is Branch on Condition to the address in R14.
