Dear all!
I've uploaded new lux development snapshots to bitbucket downloads, both
a debian package and a windows 'bundle':
https://bitbucket.org/kfj/pv/downloads/lux-1.0.8-38git-Linux.deb
https://bitbucket.org/kfj/pv/downloads/lux_for_windows_1.0.8c.zip
There are a few new features, most important are these:
- lux now has a status line
- snap-to-XXX aborts on user input for faster response
- unrecoverable errors now show a message box with details
The status line is something I had in mind for a long time, and it helps
to show the user that 'something' is going on during startup and when
proceeding to the next image (set) by displaying which image files are
loaded from disk and also signalling when interpolator buildup is still
in progress. The status line will also display while there are
snapshots/stitches/exposure fusions in the make, to explain, e.g., why
lux does not proceed immediately to the next image or terminate after
the last one. If 'nothing' is happening in the background, the status
line disappears.
I used to let snap-to-XXX activity run through even if the user tabbed
on to the next image or terminated lux, but especially with many images
visible at the same time (like, when displaying PTO files of panoramas)
this made it seem that lux 'hangs'. So I made the snap-to-XXX code more
granular, with several 'exit points' where it can 'bail out' when
appropriate.
To help users who don't run lux from the command line, I added display
of a message box when unrecoverable errors occur - which should be quite
rare. The message box displays the source code filename and line plus an
explanatory text. It's displayed with tinyfiledialogs, and takes a
little while to show, especially when coming from full-screen mode,
because then it has to switch to window mode first.
I'd appreciate feedback - and I'd like to hear feedback even if it
*does* work as intended ;)
If all is well, I intend to release this feature level as lux 1.0.9.
