My post definitely started some really interesting discussions and probably the last word hasn't been said on all of this yet. On some topics opinions are divided, but on others I saw only agreement. So I took a next step and submitted 2 feature requests for my items 1 : https://cfengine.com/bugtracker/view.php?id=893 and 4 : https://cfengine.com/bugtracker/view.php?id=894 There are really mixed opinions on 3, which was the reason I wanted to post this on the forum first, and I'm holding off on 2 a bit since there are 2 very similar requests already (143 and 190) and I don't think it adds a lot of value to write another similar one.
