Oh, I just discarded my test setup... Main run... that's the initial, long and lengthy cfengine run that does all the really hard work - configuring the system, installing packages and so on. I get no outputs from that, neither in /var/cfengine/outputs nor sent by mail. All subsequent runs, however, get logged and mailed as expected. This way I have no control whatsoever if promises failed or anything abnormal occured.
