Seva, Your suggested change doesn't work either and only produces the following for every home directory without changing any files (I believe you meant to change the file_select body to make it identical to the file_select by_name from the COPBL): /home/admin/usera is not a plain file File /home/admin/usera was marked for editing but could not be opened It's as though the file_select is ignored, possibly because there is no recursion into the home directory. I do not need to recurse through any subdirectories; only the "dot" files in the base directory. As noted in my original post, depth_search can't be used with edit_line. I'm questioning this cfengine design limitation more and more every day. This really should not be this hard to do.
