As others have said, Linux supports many many more cores than that, and has done for some time. SGI did a lot of work on the Linux kernel for their Altix systems, which have supported hundreds of CPUs for years, and most of SGI's work was put into the mainline kernel; they didn't keep it to themselves. I don't currently have any systems with more than 16 cores (although one of those is a small SGI Altix) Tim -- The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute is operated by Genome Research Limited, a charity registered in England with number 1021457 and a company registered in England with number 2742969, whose registered office is 215 Euston Road, London, NW1 2BE. _______________________________________________ Help-cfengine mailing list Help-cfengine@cfengine.org https://cfengine.org/mailman/listinfo/help-cfengine
