Neil,

Yes I am referring to a serviceGuard packaged application.  I refer to the VIP 
because I need to copy files from the host where the application is currently 
running.  i.e. Since the host that requires the data does not know the physical 
host of the application and has no way of finding it out it uses the VIP.

On a side note is my understanding of key authentification correct?

Are you referring to a virtual IP address, common in clusters?  I don't know 
why you would use the VIP for Cf versus the node's unique IP.
