You have ": " before it and some sort of EOL after it.
What was the problem? I can't see any reason why changing 
these to [ and ] would make it any better.

Sorry but this is not a solution, as any filename might 
contain these "token" chars inside them, and this stays 
true no matter what printable char you choose instead 
of [ and ].

It is working. It seems you forgot to rebuild hbmk2 
or the hbmk2 you were actually using in this test 
is and older version.
