We need the version number to distinguish it from its previous release, we do not need marketing hypes, or race to the higher number with any other product.
Since last release was 1.01 and this one is a huge leap, I would say that 1.1.0 is the right way to go. I don't know if users will know about the odd/even numbering (first time I heard it myself).
